Stop At: Zabriskie Point, CA-190, California, USA Zabriskie Point is a part of the Amargosa Range located east of Death Valley in Death Valley National Park in California, United States, noted for its erosional landscape. It is composed of sediments from Furnace Creek Lake, which dried up 5 million years ago—long before Death Valley came into existence. Duration: 30 minutes Stop At: Badwater Rd. 19 mi south of Furnace Creek, Death Valley National Park, CA 92328 Badwater Basin is an endorheic basin in Death Valley National Park, Death Valley, Inyo County, California, noted as the lowest point in North America and the United States, with a depth of 282 ft (86 m) below sea level. Mount Whitney, the highest point in the contiguous United States, is only 84.6 miles (136 km) to the northwest. Duration: 3 hours Stop At: Artist's Drive, Badwater Road, Death Valley National Park, CA 92328 The Artist’s Drive in Death Valley National Park is one of the more unique things you can do in the park. The drive takes you through canyons and past mountains, many of which are covered in fantastic colors. Duration: 45 minutes Stop At: Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes, Central Death Valley near Stovepipe Wells, Death Valley National Park, CA 92328 Mesquite Flat Dunes is the most popular of the six dune fields located in Death Valley National Park. Seemingly endless golden dunes roll off toward the horizon with a backdrop of purple mountain majesty. Duration: 30 minutes Stop At: Dante's View Rd. Off Rte. 190 30 mi south of Furnace Creek, Death Valley National Park, CA 92328 Dante’s View is the primary overlook in Death Valley National Park because it offers premier panoramic views. Below Dante’s View is Badwater Basin, the lowest point in North America. Across the valley rises Telescope Peak, the highest in the park.
